Why target these forces?

Because weakening the ground repression apparatus is the key to something much bigger.

"This morning, we eliminated Ali Larijani. Ali Larijani is the boss of the Revolutionary Guards, that group of gangsters that effectively runs Iran. Alongside him, we also eliminated the commander of the Basij – they are the gangsters' assistants who are terrorizing the population in the streets of Tehran and other Iranian cities. We are operating there as well; operating from the air with Air Force jets and UAVs.

We are undermining this regime in the hope of giving the Iranian people an opportunity to remove it. It will not happen all at once, and it will not happen easily. But if we persist, we will give them the chance to take their destiny into their own hands.

At the same time, we are helping our American friends in the Gulf. I spoke at length with President Trump on this matter yesterday.

Ali Larijani was the de facto leader of the Iranian terror regime, and he is now gone thanks to the IDF! 

The Israeli Air Force carried out a precise strike guided by IDF intelligence and combined with unique operational capabilities in the heart of Tehran, eliminating Ali Larijani, while he was near the capital city of Tehran. 

For years, Larijani was considered one of the most senior and veteran figures in the top echelon of the Iranian terror regime and was close to the regime leader Ali Khamenei.

After Khamenei's elimination, Larijani solidified his position as the de facto leader of the Iranian terror regime and led the fight against the State of Israel and the countries of the region.

As part of his role, Larijani led the political-security coordination of the Iranian terror regime and managed its international activities.

During the recent wave of protests against the regime in Iran, Larijani led enforcement and violent suppression operations and personally supervised the massacre carried out against the Iranian demonstrators.

Oh, and for the cherry on top, over a dozen top IRGC and Basij officers were also eliminated during the Israeli strikes last night, including the commander of the Basij and his deputy.

There are massive celebrations in Iran after this monster was eliminated.

I know I sound like a broken record (you know what a record is, kids? 🙂) but just stop your day for one second and think about this operation. 

Think about all the moving parts, think about the amount of Intel Israel must have had, think about the execution (pun intended), think about what could’ve gone wrong, and you will begin to understand how incredibly complex and impressive this operation was, much like hundreds of other operations carried out over the last three years by Israel.
